Hot Water Outage at the Kounicova Dormitory
We would like to inform you about a planned shutdown of the district heating pipeline, which will result in an interruption of the hot water supply at the Kounicova dormitory from Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 7:00 PM until Monday, August 31, 2026, at 12:00 PM (noon).
This shutdown is being carried out by Teplárny Brno, the local heating company. Therefore, the interruption is not caused by the activities of the Accommodation and Catering Services of Masaryk University, and unfortunately, we are unable to influence the situation.
During this period, hot water will not be available at the Kounicova dormitory. However, accommodated students may use the sanitary facilities at the Náměstí Míru dormitory, where hot showers will be available.
During the shutdown, access to the Náměstí Míru dormitory will be available on weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and subsequently from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following day. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), access will be available from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Unfortunately, access to the Náměstí Míru dormitory will not be possible outside the above-mentioned hours.
You can reach the Náměstí Míru dormitory by bus No. 68 from the Klusáčkova stop to the Náměstí Míru stop and back.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and limitations caused by this shutdown. Although this interruption is not caused by the Accommodation and Catering Services of Masaryk University, we are aware of the difficulties it may cause and would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
EDIT:
Hot water service was restored on the morning of Friday, August 28. The repair was completed ahead of schedule, and everything at the Kounicova dormitory should now be operating normally without any restrictions.
