Students can now spend their free time in the canteen at Poříčí

Since the new academic year, the canteen at the Faculty of Education has been offering students the opportunity to make new use of the space on the ground floor and on the first floor. Following the reconstruction during summer which included the construction of a glass wall the canteen is now fully accessible to students after opening hours.P

“The glass partition will allow us to lock up expensive catering equipment whenever the canteen is closed. Everything was done on schedule, the canteen closed on 9 May and reopened for students on 1 September,” said Petr Kronika, who has been running the canteen since its opening.

The canteen is open from Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closes half an hour earlier on Fridays. Even after closing time, students can now spend their free time in the canteen until the evening, study or just relax, including on weekends. The Student Club above the canteen on the 1st floor on the “suspended footbridge” is also available to them. It is equipped with comfortable armchairs, a large hanging chair and coffee tables. The canteen also offers seating in the faculty courtyard with deck chairs and garden chairs.

The canteen at the Faculty of Education has been one of the most popular among MU students in recent years (it serves up to 500 meals a day). It began its operation in the former gymnasium in April 2022, making it the most recently opened catering facility operated by ACS. With a special ramp for wheelchair users, it is also wheelchair accessible. In addition to Poříčí, the facility can also be accessed through the large gate from Ypsilantiho street near the Art Department building (access is available by ringing the bell).
