Vinařská looking at improved canteen and outdoor premises
MU’s Accommodation and Catering Services is committed to the improvement of comfort of its residents even towards the very end of the semester. In addition to regular summertime maintenance and repair, which includes wall painting and minor repair work at the dormitories which are closed for summer, other renovation projects should start according the approved schedule.
The premises of the Vinařská complex will see the most significant improvements. “We will modernise its gastronomy technologies for the distribution of meals and introduce a more client-friendly system. Separate pick-up corridors will be introduced which are expected to expedite the distribution of meals and the overall operation of the canteen,” says Head of Technical and Information Technologies Petra Jandásková.
Outdoor access areas on the premises will see some renovations as well. “All residence blocks will undergo support wall repair. The access roads, pavements, stairs and guard rails around the premises of the Vinařská canteen need some TLC as well. These renovations are expected to improve the safety and comfort of tenants,” Jandásková explained, adding that the renovations are scheduled to be completed before students move back for the start of the autumn semester.
Major projects for the next two years include the overall renovation of the Sladkého dormitory in Komárov in several stages. The completion of the current Vinařská dormitory complex is included in the short-term development plan as well. The project anticipates the construction of two or three blocks which, when finished, could offer 600 beds. Included in the long-term development plan is the construction of a student and community housing project in the Bohunice campus with approximately 1,500 beds. These should be offered to students and selected employees, mostly new hires, researchers or post-docs.
