New model for university catering in the works

A traditional canteen, a takeaway counter, vending machines for hot and chilled meals, a bistro or a café. MU will soon offer its students and staff a diverse blend of these dining services. This diverse range of choices reflects current trends in food services.

MU is currently evaluating specific proposals from external providers for various locations, particularly the existing catering facilities at the University Campus Bohunice (UCB) and the new MUNI BioPharma Hub.

The new catering concept will launch from September 2026 at the Faculty of Pharmacy. The new dining services at UCB are expected to be fully operational by January 2027 at the latest.

Summer accommodation: this year at Kounicova

Almost six hundred beds at the Kounicova dormitory. That’s the answer to the summertime demand for accommodation between 1 July and 31 August. Current tenants can apply for their summertime spot since 1 June; other applicants will have to wait until mid June. Should the demand for beds exceed the capacity, the university is prepared to add the Klácelova dormitory with 313 beds.

They will reopen on 17 August, and the full operation shall resume on 14 September with the start of the fall semester.
