Wired connection - PKS
The wired connection is carried out via the RJ45 ethernet socket in the rooms of the halls of residence.The Computer Residence Network (PKS). is run by the PKS Aneta system (Active NEtwork Tools for Administrators) whose provider is the companyComputer System CZ s.r.o., that also provides PKS technical support.
who intend to use this type of connection must first register for the service in the PKS system Anetaenter Aneta
In order to successfully register and activate Internet connection you need to have a UČO, an active relation with MU and be currently accommodated in the ISKaM system at a halls of residence.
who would like to use a connection of this type are kindly asked to obtain a registration code at the relevant reception desk. To get connected it is necessary to enter the registration code into the Aneta system in your computer.enter Aneta

As of the given date, 96 % of the rooms of the overall capacity of MU halls of residence are covered.
The backbone among individual halls of residence is provided by optical distribution of the university network administered by the Institute of Computer Science and is generally designed for 1 to 10 Gbps. The distribution between a socket in a room and the first active component has a maximum transfer rate of 100Mbit at each halls of residence.
How to get connected
Information needed for getting connected can be found at:
Detailed instructions for getting connected to PKS Aneta:
Restrictions on the net
The network can be used providing the following university rules are respected :
- Používání informačních technologií - směrnice Masarykovy univerzity č. 10/2017 upravující povinnosti uživatelů, kteří využívají informační technologie na MU
- Správa informačních technologií - směrnice Masarykovy univerzity č. 9/2017 upravující povinnosti a oprávnění správců informačních technologií na MU
For computers accessing the Internet via routers with system Aneta see the following:
Data transfer limit / FUP
Data transfer (in and out) must not exceed the limit of 15 GB per day between 0:00 - 23:59 (+/- 5 minutes). Within the university network (IP 147.251.xxx.xxx), there is no data transfer limit. Transfer statistics available on webpages Aneta. If the limit is exceeded, the speed is decreased to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day + 3 following days.
Handling IP or MAC (HW) addresses
If there occurs a manipulation, by a user, with an IP address or a MAC address,
a theft of an IP or a MAC address, it will be evaluated in accordance with MU directive No. 6/2011
Overview table of applied blockings
|1||data transfer limit (15 GB / 24 h.)||3||1 Mbps|
|2||breach of copyright||5|
|3||breach of network safety regulations||7|
|4||other exceptional event||up to 30|
Blocking of incoming communication and SMB
The outgoing communication from a PC within PKS to the Internet (and university network) is accepted, except for communication using RPC, SMBFS and SMTP (ports 135, 137-139, 445 and 25), which is blocked. Therefore it is possible to use any services related to the network (e.g. WWW, FTP, SSH, Skype etc., except for sharing the Windows system).
As for the incoming communication from the Internet (and university network) to PCs connected to PKS, is implicitly banned for security reasons (except for communication within one subnet and ICMP packets). The user can allow the ports by an application for allowing the ports. The application is available after logging into Aneta.
