Dear students,

From 11.1.2021 an electronic Defect Log is available in ISKaM. In the attachment we send instructions, in case of enquiries please contact the person in charge of accommodation of the relevant dormitory, as far as hall of residence Vinařská, please, contact ing. Fogada, email: fogada@skm.muni.cz 

Maintenance hours are: Monday – Friday from 8:00 to 15:00, outside working hours in case of an accident or emergency, please contact the reception desk of the relevant dormitory.

Information for students from dormitory Sladkého

7th January 2021

Dear students,

due to the deteriorating epidemics situation and the recommendation of the crisis staff, the dormitory Sladkého remains closed for the time being and will continue to serve as a quarantine accommodation site, for the time being until January 31, 2021. 

The students from the Sladkého dormitories who have substitute accommodation in other dormitories, have these reservations automatically extended until January 31, 2021.

We will inform you about the further developments in advance.

Reopened the Academic restaurant from January 4th

From January 4th, the Academic restaurant canteen will be reopened. The meals will be dispensed only through the window.

Reservation for spring term 2021 - Degree, Erasmus

From 14.12.2020 to 28.2.2021 there will be online reservations for Degree and Erasmus students.

For Erasmus and degree students there are Vinařská dormitories - A1 block and Kounicova dormitory, in case of rules loosening also Sladkého dormitory (to be specified).

Accommodation extension for spring semester 2021

1st December 2020

Students who have a contract for accommodation only for the autumn semester and are interested in extending it to the spring semester have the possibility to apply for this extension from the accommodation provider/person in charge of the relevant dormitory where they are staying, but no later than 11.12.2020.

In order to speed up booking, it should be noted:

name, surname, UČO (university personal number), dormitory, date of accommodation from-to.

Sladkého Residence hall - quarantine accommodation

From 5.11.2020 Sladkého Residence hall is available as quarantine accommodation.

If the student reports a positive test for COVID-19, he or she must send this information to the email address pavlicova@skm.muni.cz.

Newly adopted crisis measures of the Czech Government-12.10.2020

In accordance with the newly adopted crisis measures of the Government of the Czech Republic, we strongly draw students' attention to:

ban on mass events for more than 6 people
ban on staying in public places for more than 6 people
ban on drinking alcoholic beverages in public places

Ban of parties and similar gatherings

Moving, interchanges

29th September 2020

Moving or reciprocal swaps both within the same residence hall, or onto other residence halls, will be possible from November 1st, 2020 at the earliest.

Any change must be dealt with via email, to the designated dormitory/accommodator.

Boardings for accommodation - 2020/2021 AY

29th September 2020

A time limit is announced for boarding the residence halls:

October 3rd, 2020             8:00 – 18:00

October 4th, 2020             8:00 – 18:00

A student who properly entered into an Accommodation agreement and paid a booking bail of 2000 CZK has a bed booked until October 11th, 2020 included.

In the halls of residence without a permanent reception service (Tvrdého, Mánesova, Veveří a nám. Míru) accommodation outside the declared boarding dates is only possible on working days from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. In case of boarding outside the declared time limit, the chosen boarding day must be notified in advance by email to the relevant residence hall.

If a student cannot attend accommodation on the announced dates or by the aforementioned deadline of October 11th, 2020 and has paid reservation bail, he or she can apply for an extension of the reservation no later than 2 days before the boarding date under the accommodation contract, by email sent to ubytovani@skm.muni.cz.

Cancellation of accommodation reservation for the 2020/21 AY

24th September 2020

Deadline for cancelling bookings for the 2020/21 academic year and refunding booking bail is October 11th, 2020.

After that date, cancellation will be possible without refunding booking bail.

Students can now board accommodation or cancel their accommodation and reapply for it (e.g. when contact teaching resumes), in which case SKM does not guarantee an originally booked bed.

Change of boarding date to dormitory in accommodation contract

16th September 2020

Students wishing to change their boarding date must cancel the signature of the accommodation contract, contact the dormitory/accommodator where they have booked, then re-sign the accommodation contract after the change.

The deadline for changing the date is 25.9.2020.

MU halls of residence are currently occupied

16th September 2020

The waiting list for Czech and Slovak students was closed on 15.9.2020.

Students who were additionally allocated the dormitory place according to a waiting list date of 13.-15.9.2020 have a due date of booking bail and the signing of an accommodation contract set until 25.9.2020.

After this deadline, bookings where bail or a signed contract will not be paid will be cancelled and any spare capacity will be available to other applicants for accommodation.

Escalation traffic lights COVID-19

Dear Students,                                                                          After very careful consideration on the grounds of protecting students and staff from the spread of COVID-19 issued and approved an escalation traffic light on 3.9. MU Emergency Staff, where instructions related to the operation of all parts of the Masaryk University are issued according to the color, which is in accordance with the CR measure. It is one of many preventative measures that will help keep the university running and allow students to participate in teaching to the maximum extent possible. This dorm-related measure is also in place at the dorms of other residence halls in the city. Prevention is crucial these days and we believe you will understand and respect it for the reasons above.

No entry without face masks to SKM MU residence halls

3rd September 2020

Effective immediately, students are required to wear face masks in the indoor areas of SKM accommodation, outside visits are prohibited, students can meet in limited numbers, at 2-metre distatance and are required to wear a face mask.

The use of gyms and social rooms is prohibited.

It also applies to long-stay guests - UNI Čejkova, UNI Grohova, depandance Vinařská, hotel B&B.

Food to go

6th July 2020

Effective from 1. 5. 2020 under Act No. 235/2004 Coll., on value added tax, catering services are subject to a second reduced rate of tax of 10%.

In the case of food taken with you (i.e. packaged food, pizza in a box intended for consumption outside the seller's premises), it is not a catering service but a supply of goods with a VAT rate of 15%.

Shutdown of the LF snack bar (Komenského nám. 2)

16th June 2020

From 1. 7. 2020 will close the LF snack bar (The Faculty of Medicine) in Komenského nám. 2. We like to serve you at the Academic Canteen and Veggie Bar in Moravian Square (Moravské náměstí) (about a 5-minute walk from LF).

In Moravian Square and other canteens, you can take advantage of the wide range of ready meals you can order 48 hours (working days) in advance via the WebKredit or MobilKredit order system.

We also offer a wide selection of short order and vegetarian meals without order.

Warning - breaches of government regulations during an emergency

20th April 2020

If government regulations are breached during an emergency, accommodation in MU's dormitories will be terminated immediately. If the breach occurs in terms of visits and meeting in rooms, in addition to the immediate termination of accommodation, the sum of 5,000 CZK will be charged, - as the cost of disinfecting the entire room.

Fixed connection shutdown - PKS

16th April 2020

Fixed connection operation (PKS Aneta, Internet by cable) in all buildings:

 It will be terminated on June 30th, 2020. Wireless - WiFi eduroam and WiFi Hotel-SKM - remain in all dormitories.

Bookings for ac.year 2020/21

16th April 2020

In the context of the current situation and the change in the academic year 2020 / 21 schedule. The schedule of reservations and accommodation in MU dormitories for 2020/21 has also been amended.

Bed bookings will be possible on the 20th-24th of May 2020 - you can find the individual stages in the schedule.

Bookings for the existing bed will start on 20th March at 9am.

Because of the large number of early departures due to the current pandemic, accommodation valid on 1st March, 2020 is taken for booking purposes, i.e. students who are no longer currently living on campuses but were staying on 1st March. However, if you have moved to another room since 1st March, it is taken as current accommodation on date 1st March.

Accommodation information in academic year 2020/21

14th April 2020

Edit 14.4.20

Reservations for currently accommodated on the existing bed or those who have checked out of the dormitory from 1.3. the bed from which they moved (if not occupied) will start on Monday 20.4. at 9AM.

Edit 30.3.2020
The start of reservations is postponed by 14 days, ie. 6.4. No reservations for the next academic year will be started. We will inform the students about the exact date.

Edit 25.3.
The schedule of reservations and accommodation will be adjusted in connection with the change of Schedule academic year MU.
Students who have checked out of the dormitory on March 1, 2020 will be treated as currently accommodated students for the purposes of booking for the academic year 2020/21.

12.3.2020 Documents relating to academic year 2020/21 are published in the documents section. There is a residence fee price list, a timetable and instruction to pay a (refundable) deposit and a residence fee, and a sample agreement. Please read these documents, especially the following changes and news:

Prices increase by 3% (inflation + energy price increase)

Booking bail has increased to 2 000 CZK. In case of entering the dormitory and only after accommodation has finished, you will get a refund. The bail is used to cover any damage and arrears.

Since 16th March 2020, the order eating system is preferred, with no ready-to-order meals available. 

Short order dish (weekly offer) are available in a limited range according to the current offer without the need to order.

Exchange of beds at the halls of residence

Bed changes will be possible on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. For more information please see the notice regarding the exchange of beds. Requests for an exchanges on 1st of April  2020 should be sent not earlier than March 30, 2020 to koleje@skm.muni.cz.

Free bed exchanges will be possible only if all dormitory applicants are satisfied.

MobilKredit - canteens in your mobile phone

Dear boarders,
Your boarding account can also be operated through MobilKredit application in your mobile phone. The application will provide you the possibility to see the currently available offer of meals in relevant canteens, order meals in advance, check the history of your account - everything right in your mobile phone.

New offer of vegetable side dish

Putting the deposit into the boarding card

1st January 2020

Dear customers,
in order to ensure a continuous distribution and sale in the MU canteens, please, use the possibility of the cashless transfer between the SUPO university system and Webkredit system when depositing money into your boarding card. More information and instructions can be found in section "Connecting SUPO-Kredit".

The deposit can also be put into the  boarding account in meal tickets. Certain meal tickets of different nominal values are accepted by cashiers. The withdrawal of cash from the account is limited by the amount of 100,- CZK. Higher amount can be withdrawed at the operation manager's office.

Residence fee

17th December 2019

Under the amendment to Act No. 565/1990 Sb. and the generally binding decree of the statutory city of Brno 17/2019 on local fees effective from 1/1/2020, we are required to charge a stay fee of less than 61 days for accommodation. This fee is paid to the relevant municipal area.

Current fee rate is for Brno-centre (Klácelova, nám. Míru, Tvrdého, Veveří, Vinařská, Grohova) - 21 CZK per night, Brno-South (bří. Žůrků a Sladkého) - 21 CZK/night, Brno-Královo pole (Mánesova, Kounicova) - 15 CZK/night, Brno-Židenice (Čejkova) - 21 CZK/night.

The Cikhaj holiday resort has got a new owner

6th November 2019

The new owner of the Cikhaj holiday resort is Eido rent LLC. It was sold because running of the property has been a long-term loss for the university. Eido rent LLC bought the property at auction for five million crowns. The company will continue to use it for recreational purposes even after the change of owner, and the new owner offers the possibility of accomodation to people from Masaryk University who are interested. For educational and teaching courses and stays, the university will continue to use its own University Centre in Telč.

Confirmation of providing the accommodation

4th October 2019

Note for foreign students:  „Confirmation of providing the accommodation“ either for the purpose of granting a visa or prolonging it is to be written out only on the basis of a written application sent by e-mail at: koleje@skm.muni.cz  at least one week before your visit at OAMP. 

We send the confirmation by data box to relevant authorities only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Thus, ask for your confirmation in time.

Confirmation can be issued only if you have paid all the receivables and your SUPO account does not show debt for accommodation.

As of 1 August 2019, we do not send these confirmations to embassies abroad. Please, request your confirmation from the Study Department of the relevant faculty.

Settlement of the deposit and dormitory fee

10th September 2019

The dormitory fee is to be paid in advance in the relevant month in accordance with the SUPO timetable (nevertheless, the money should be credited to the SUPO account on 10th day of the month).
When checking in throughout the month, the dormitory fee is due to 10th day from the check-in.

In addition to the dormitory fee, the accommodation deposit is to be paid too in the first month. The accommodation deposit is a cash advance for the last month according to the accommodation contract (the deposit will be automatically credited with the last month of the accommodation).

Municipal waste disposal fee

29th August 2019

From this year on, the obligation to pay the waste disposal fee applies newly also to all the foreigners staying in the area of Brno for more than 90 days. This local fee does not relate in any way to the payment for the accommodation. SKM has no futher information concerning the waste disposal fee. WiFi connection in MU dormitories

1st April 2019

During spring semestr 2019 the installation of eduroam WiFi coverage at all dormitories of Mu was completed.

Instructions for accessing the eduroam network.

In order for the system to function properly, it is necessary to permanently switch off all personal WiFi routers and hotspots in accordance with the guidelines for Using personal electrical appliances brought into the Masaryk University halls of residence, Article 2, (9).

In case of connection problems, please contact the local administrators.

WiFi Hotel-SKM has been launched (at halls of residence and hotels) for non-university guests to access the internet.

Information for the academic year 2019/20

In the Documents section, there is new information for the academic year 2019/20 - Rules, Timetable and Price List. The increase in prices is mainly due to an increase in energy prices this year by more than 25% and also the increase in minimum wages.

We would also like inform you that the notice period will be shortened to 1 month, the accommodation contract will from now on be signed only electronically and beds can be reserved only by students currently studying at the Masaryk University (students of other universities depending on capacity at the end of the summer holidays). Accommodation Rules for the academic year 2019/20 will be updated in line with the new accommodation contract during the spring semester.
