Masaryk University places great emphasis on a varied and balanced range of quality food, including vegan and gluten-free options, as well as on the locality of the ingredients used.
Adjusting your diet
We have been cooking meals without meat or animal products since September 2017, when we opened a new dining room named Veggie bar. The veggie bar is designed mainly for vegans and vegetarians. It replaced serving counter for employees on the first floor of the Academic Canteen in Moravian Square. It was the first self-service facility among university canteens focusing on meat-free food. The veggie bar offers its diners two soups a day, two meat-free meals for vegetarians as well as animal-free meals for vegans, but also a low-calorie diet. Sweet lovers can also choose, as the Veggie bar also offers desserts, both classic baked and chilled.
Each canteen offers daily at least two vegetarian meals and one vegan meal.
We include seasonal foods in our menus - Strawberry Dreaming, Asparagus Season, etc. We inform about each gastro-event sufficiently in advance in updates on our website and on the SKM Facebook page.
