Reducing Food Waste in MUNI Canteens – 20% Discount on Soups and Lunches
In response to suggestions from the MU Catering Committee, all Masaryk University canteens will implement a new measure starting August 25, 2025, to help reduce waste from prepared meals. Every day, during the final 20 minutes before a canteen closes, selected meals will be available at a 20% discount.
The discount applies only to ready-made meals still available for serving that day, specifically:
items in the "Soups" category
items in the "Menu with Soup" category
items in the "Lunch Specials" category
The discount does not apply to:
"À la carte meals"
"Desserts"
"Salads and Compotes"
The goal of this initiative is to reduce food waste, lower the volume of biowaste, and make better use of meals prepared at the end of the serving period. The discount will be available in all MUNI canteen locations, every day during the final 20 minutes before closing time.
The 20% discount will be applied automatically during this time window. Customers will see the final reduced price directly on the screen.
We aim to encourage both students and staff to help minimize biowaste—while saving money at the same time.
REMINDER: Ordering meals in advance is still the most sustainable way to avoid food waste and ensure you get your preferred meal.
